    It’s easy to overlook how often negotiations take place in our personal and professional lives. I had previously never associated creativity with negotiation, but it makes sense how creativity and an ability to see from others’ perspectives can help facilitate an agreement if one understands the other party’s true interests.

    You make a great point that creativity–a factor that is commonly overlooked because of its simplicity–is among the most important facets of negotiation. It is far easier to get what you want in a situation if you understand the other party’s underlying reason for wanting something and are able to develop a creative solution that incorporates both interests.
