Renewing Vows on 50th Wedding Anniversary – Love is

Renewing your vows on your 50th year:

The enlightened version

Love is “The will to extend one’s self for the purpose of nurturing one’s own and another’s spiritual growth.”

True love is the soul’s recognition of its counterpoint in another.

A Rare thing in this world; Truly something to be valued.

I understand that the couple to remain married “wishes” to renew updated vows:

Please state “I do” after each vow.

John, do you promise to love Mary all the days of your life?

Mary, do you promise to love John all the days of your life?

Do you promise to be the best friend you can possibly be to him?

John, do you promise to be the best friend you can possibly be to Mary?

Do you promise to work as many jobs as it takes to support your family?

Mary, do you promise to work outside the home as well as take care of the home as well as the children?

Do you promise to stay awake during every movie you watch together and never ask afterward how it ended?

John, do you promise not to disturb Mary when she is doing her crossword puzzle?

Do you promise to give her every putt under four feet…… whether or not your match is close?

Mary, do you promise to agree to play more golf than anyone in the history of the world could ever be expected to?

Do you promise to put raisins in the meatballs although every Italian gene in your body cringes when you do?

John, do you promise to eat everything Mary cooks and not complain when she only cook when your grandchildren are visiting?

Do you promise to only force your grandchildren to go to the dump with you?

Mary, do you promise to speak more loudly if Pop’s hearing ever gets impaired?

Do you promise to “watch” the Red Sox every time they are on TV even though you could never have imagined that you would be able to get a channel in South Carolina which shows games ALMOST EVERY DAY?

John, do you promise to not make Nana watch Red Sox taped games or Red Sox Classics on off days during the season.

Do you promise not to tell the same joke more than ten times in any given week?

Mary, do you promise to encourage at least your grandchildren to laugh at Pop’s jokes?

Do you promise to support John’s desire to be a leader in organizing events?

John, do you promise to make Mary proud when asked to be master of ceremonies?

Do you promise to vote Republican in ever election?

Mary, do you promise to vote Democrat canceling out John’s vote?

Do you promise to create a legacy of giving back to the community and maintaining close relationships?

John, do you promise to create a legacy of laughter, fun, and always putting the needs of others ahead of your own?.

Do you promise to raise your children to be good, honest, kind, hard-working people and help them do the same for their children?

Mary, do you promise to raise your children to be good, honest, kind, hard-working people and help them do the same for their children?

Do you promise to love John and your family unconditionally all the days of your life?

John, do you promise to love Mary and your family unconditionally all the days of your life?

BY THE POWER VESTED IN ME BY NOBODY, I HEREBY PRONOUNCE YOU HUSBAND AND WIFE FOR THE NEXT HALF CENTURY.

DAD, YOU MAY NOW KISS MOM.
